15 Year Class Reunion

I attended my 15 year class reunion last night. There are a lot of things I would like to say about this reunion but I think it is best to keep some things to myself. :)

I was very surprised by the turn out. There were people there I was pleased to see. There were others that I didn't expect to see. It was very nice.

We had a float in the parade and then some went out to the park for a family get together. We were not able to stick around for that because my youngest decided he NEEDED a nap. From what I heard there was a decent turn out there. We had dinner at our local restaurant. Then a large number of us went to a few local bars after wards. It was nice to catch up with people and see how some had, to put it nicely, grown up over the years. If classmates acted like this while I was in school, I probably would have enjoyed it better. :)

I can't decide if I feel old anymore or not. haha

What did you think? BEWARE....SPOILERS

I think the book was well written but some of the story was just not what I expected. The camping scenes seemed to have stretched out a bit much for me. The ending battle was something like I had imagined. The final chapter was wrapped up nicely but it didn't give me enough detail. Just made me want to ask a few more questions.

Almost is NEVER enou.....

That was a phrase one of my High School math teachers had on his wall. It has really stuck with me over the years. Well, today is no different. All I have been hearing is HP:DH is ALMOST here. So "almost" is defiantly not enough for me right now. I can't wait to read this book. I admit, I have not been a HP fan from the beginning. I became a fan around the time HP:OOTP came out. Then I literally hooked after I sat down and watched the movies. So, it has only been four years in waiting for me for this last book. Some have been waiting 10 years.
But on the other hand, I will be sad that that series is over. Will we know all the answer we have been wandering about over the years or will there be even more questions come up in the book? I guess we will find out in a few LONG days.
One of my long time friends, mspris, and I plan to attend the book party at Hastings in Richmond. My fear is some jerk showing up there and yelling out who gets killed and ruin it for everyone. Guess that is the chance I will take to spend my evening with other Harry Potter freaks. Mspris is planning on dressing up at Tonks. I have no idea who to dress up as. She suggested I go as Belletrix but I really don't care for her. She also suggested Trelawny. That wouldn't be too bad. I just don't think I have the scarfs to wear nor the Harry Carry glasses. The only HP outfit I have is the Gryffindor robe. The easiest thing for me to do is to wash my hair and let it dry natural and go as the bushy-head know-it-all. Lord knows my hair WILL BE bushy as all get out.
I was planning on taking the weekend and reading the book but it looks like we are taking a trip to Indy for a weekend get-away. Guess I will have to learn to read and walk at the same time. haha

Since I'm on a roll....

I am so eager for the next few weeks to get here. Next week is the OOTP movie. I have tickets for me, my oldest son and one of my closest friends for the midnight show. Again, I will be dragging at work Thursday but I have to see it before I hear anything about it and ruin it.

Then the following weekend is the book 7 release. I went and reserved my book at Hastings on Tuesday. They are suppose to have a big party for the release. I am sure my oldest will want to go with me to that too. I hope my friend will be able to go with us too...hint hint ms_pris. They said it is suppose to be a bigger and better party then they had for the last one. Lot's of give-aways and trivia.

I have already to EVERYONE I will be locked in my room till I finish the book. Of course, with my luck, my oldest son will have a baseball game and I will have to leave the safety of my room to go watch it. I guess I will just wear ear plugs so I don't hear how it ends. lol

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Long time no see

Sorry it has been ages since I have posted anything but....you know...LIFE.

Let's start with the long over due posting of the Ebertfest pics. I only have a few that turned out decent. But I do have my memories.

First off I met up with Dee and her charming husband.

We also ran into SnoKat and Mr. Snokat. We really weren't hard to find. We were the first ones in line to get in to see Perfume.

I know Dee and I had see Perfume before Ebertfest. We were unknowingly at the same screening in Indy. I have to admit, I really wasn't looking forward to seeing the movie again. I was so looking forward to Alan introducing the film. I thought with seeing him, it would get me thru the movie. Well, much to my surprise, Mr. Ebert's wife introduced the movie and there was no sign of Alan anywhere. So, I had to sit thru the movie a second time before I could lay eyes on Alan in person. I didn't think the movie was as bad the second time around as the first time. Of course I think I snoozed thru it a tad. Finally the time came and Alan came out on stage and did a Q&A. I won't go into any detail on that since it has been covered by people already. In all honestly, I can't remember much of the Q&A. All I remember thinking is I can't believe I am really seeing Alan Rickman in person. There was something about his shoes too but I can't remember what it was. Guess that is what I get for not posting this entry for 2 months after the even. *grin* Here is about the only pic that came out worth a hoot from the Q&A.

After the Q&A we all headed outside to wait on Alan's exit. When he finally came out I was in awe at how well he looked in person. I think he looked very tired but I honestly expected him to look different in person...not as good. I was sooooo wrong. He was just as handsome in person as on the screen. I, of course, made an idiot of myself. I handed him my magazine to sign and he had it in his hands and I let go of it. Well, his pen wasn't turned out to write so he let go of my magazine to open his pen. So my magazine was on the ground at his feet. I squatted down to pick it up and all I remember thinking that I hope Dee doesn't take a picture of this...it would look very inappropriate. I think he said "sorry" or something along those lines but I don't remember much after that.

We did get to see Rima. That was a treat as well.

This pretty much sums up my Ebertfest trip. I drove home that night and got home around 4:30 or 5. I was officially up 24 hours. I slept for about 3-4 hours and went into work till 5 that day. I was dragging butt but it was SO WORTH it!

Root Canal

I had my second root canal today. I have to admit, I would much rather have a root canal done then a filling. I HATE the drilling part and there isn't much drilling involved with a root canal. But the aftermath of the root canal is horrible. My tooth is SO SORE now. I got numbed at 2 this afternoon and it is past 10 and I am still numb up to my eyeball...literally! I would think the numbing would be gone by now but it isn't. I should be glad because my tooth is sore. But at least the pain isn't shooting up to my eye anymore.

Opinion Needed

I went for my annual GYN appointment the other day. I, as usual, complained about having to have a period. I hate them. Mine seem to last forever.
Dr. Voss suggested birth control pills but they don't do anything but make me (more) moody and gain weight. I have worked really hard for a year to loose my 30 pounds and I refuse to put it back on. They also make me not want to have sex for some reason. Of course Hubby is all for that. He thinks you should actually go to sleep when you go to bed.
ANYWAY...Dr. Voss made another suggestion. It is called NOVASURE. For those who have not heard about it, it is a surgical procedure where they go and burn the lining off your uterus. Yes, it sound painful but he says with this, a high percentage of woman never have a period again. If they do it is spotting. It is also known to reduce some PMS symptoms. Of course you cannot get pregnant anymore after this procedure either but I am SO DONE with having anymore heathens, I mean children. :)
I would like to know others opinions in this. I think it is something worth looking into. I have no plans on anymore children and I would like to not have to worry about my period popping up at the most inconvenient moments. I think it sounds great. The ones I have talked to about this are either all for it or all against it. So, I want more opinions.

I hate being SICK!

My 3 year old has been running a temp since Thursday (ear infection) and I started with one late Friday night. It came on so quick that I didn't even know what hit me. So Joseph and I are just laying around this weekend making daddy take care of us. :)
Joey is a good sick buddy too. He came in this morning and asked to watch Harry Potter with me. I had just started to watch Die Hard and he laid down with me and started to watch that. He loves action. Next we watched HP and he went to sleep during that. When he woke up we started to was Galaxy Quest. He got bored with it quick and went to lay in his bed to watch the Wiggles. Now I have to cut Galaxy Quest short so I can watch the Daytona 500!
Thank goodness Nascar is starting back up again. GO TONY STEWART!!!!!!!

Snow, snow and more snow!

The snow has finally stopped and the sun is shining. Hubby dug out our vehicles this morning and I took a ride out to the main highways to see how the road were. I don't know if I could have made it to work because I live south of my work and they had more snow up there then we did here. (Oldest son measured snow in the 11 inch range!) My boss called and said our parking lot and driveway had not been plowed at work yet so we couldn't get in, but he would call when it was if I wanted to come in. It is pushing 2 pm now and I have not heard a word so I can safely say I am not going into work (again) today.
The boys went out and played in the snow this morning. I think our 3 year old was a bit scared because most of the snow piles were over his head. He was enjoying throwing snowballs and daddy and bubby till bubby hit him with one. Then the tears started to fall and he was ready to go in.
It sure doesn't feel like Valentine's Day. My mother owns a flower shop and is probably loosing her butt on roses since the weather is bad. Hubby has never been a romantic person but I am sure I would have flowers at work today, IF I was there. :) Maybe tomorrow.
I guess I will work on some homework since I am not going anywhere.

Someone rescue me!

Tomorrow night is the SUPERBOWL. My husband has been a life-long fan of Da Bears. My son has been a Colts fan since he got interested in football. It has been hell in the house this week with them arguing over who is going to win. I dread to see what it will be like during the game. Every time a touchdown is made one of them will be rubbing it in the others face. GUH!
I, myself, hope the Colts win. They have not been in the Superbowl since they moved to Indy. They NEED this win.
So, I guess I will say GO COLTS!!!
I did make my husband a "no-sew" blanket tonight of Da Bears. It was my way of a peace offering since I am going to root for the COLTS. :)

He is growing up too fast!

My oldest son, Jordan, plays on a traveling basketball team. He is in 3rd grade and they normally play at small gyms. They play every Sunday afternoon. Well, tonight they went to play during the Jr. Varsity half-time game at the high school. The team looked so tiny out there. They announced the team and for some reason I started to tear up and I actually sobbed when they said Jordan's name. It suddenly hit me that in a few short years he could be out there playing in the Jr. Varsity game! My baby is growing up?! It seems like just yesterday he couldn't even dribble a ball. Where has the time gone????

Perfume

I had the opportunity a couple weeks ago to go see Perfume. Let's start with the trip over. My husband refused to go see this movie with me so I went solo. I went to an evening show and he didn't think it was a good idea for me to be in Indy at night alone just to see a movie. So, I gave him two options. 1) He could go with me to the afternoon show Saturday when we could get a sitter or 2) He could let me go alone. He told me to drive safely.
It was pouring down rain there and once I got to the mall, I couldn't remember what store the theatre was closest to. So, I parked at the Cheesecake Factory entrance. Actually, that was the only place I could find to park. After getting drenched running inside I had to figure out where I was. Once I got my bearing straight I realized I was on the wrong side of the mall. With about 10 min till the movie started I pretty much sprinted to the theatre.
There were more people in there then I expected. The seats were the most comfortable seats I have ever set in.
I won't go into a lot of detail on the movie but I will say I was disappointed in it. It had lots of potential to be a good movie but the ending killed it. One of the last scenes is meant to be emotional, and I am sure symbolic in many ways, but I was biting my thumb to keep from laughing out loud. I guess I am just not one of those people who gets all the symbolism stuff. Once the movie was over, I was worried I wasn't going to be able to walk back through the mall to get to my car and was going to have to walk out in the rain at 10 pm looking for my car on the other side of the mall. But I was able to get back through the mall safely.
My rating on a scale of 1 to 10 has to be about a 6. AR's performance on the 1 to 10 scale, as usual, was a 20. He gets so into character. That is one of the things I love about AR, every character for him is different. You don't realize it is the same actor playing different characters. He brings each one to life in a different way. Bruce Willis is a good example of playing different roles but the character is always the same. If he isn't playing a macho cop, he can't act. (No offense to Bruce Willis fans.)
There really aren't any other movies I am looking forward to see that is coming out in the near future. I think Zodiac looks interesting. Also, Because I Said So. Looks like a chick flick and I normally don't do them but for some reason, this one caught my eye. Of course there are 3 AR movies to come out this year and I always look forward to them.

Long time no see!

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted anything but it has been busy. If I am not busy, I am just too darn tired to mess with anything.
I was browsing some blogs and seen this on Dee's website. It said to post this in your blog and I thought: "Hey,I actually had one now". :)
So here it goes!

Book Game
THE RULES
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
6. Some nonsense about tagging people.

The closest book to me is Angels & Demons by Dan Brown

After all, the four missing men were no ordinary cardinals. They were THE cardinals. The chosen four.

I really do like this book. I don't read alot but after watching The DaVinci Code, I had to read more of the authors books. I heard they are making a movie of this book as well and it will also star Tom Hanks. The author also said he is in the process of writing another book with the Robert Langdon character. I am looking forward to that book as well.

That was fun

I finally figured out some things on setting up the layout.
I am not a creative person nor am I very articulate with my words. Hopefully I can think of things to write about on a regular basis.
I truly love to debate and theorize about Harry Potter so that might be my inspiration to write.
If anyone has any theorize they want to discuss, bring them on!

First Time

Well, this is my first post. I have no clue what I am doing so it will be trial and error for a while.
A little about myself:
I am thirty something with two kids, three if you count my husband. I work full time doing accounting work. I live in Indiana. I am also taking college courses to get my 4 year degree.
I enjoy the Harry Potter Universe, I have been a life-long fan of Star Wars and I consider Alan Rickman the most talented actor in history.
I think I am going to stop here for my first post. I am eager to see how this LJ works!
